In Plato's Footsteps: The Azores as an Eternal Echo of Atlantis
When Portuguese caravels first landed on the uninhabited shores of the Azores archipelago in the 15th century, the sailors were transfixed by the pristine, almost mystical beauty of these places. But the true mystery of these lands dates back thousands of years.
Today, the Azores are one of the most popular, logical, and captivating places in the world where researchers place the legendary Atlantis. And this bold theory has strong allies.

Why the Azores?
Perfect coordinates: The ancient Greek philosopher Plato clearly indicated in his dialogues that Atlantis was located in the ocean immediately beyond the Pillars of Heracles (the Strait of Gibraltar). If you sail due west from Gibraltar, the first lands you encounter will be the Azores. Proponents of this theory believe that the archipelago is the peaks of the great mountains of Atlantis, preserved from the flood.
In the heart of tectonic chaos: The islands are located at a unique triple junction of tectonic plates. This is a land of fire and lava. If anywhere on the planet could experience a cataclysm capable of plunging an entire continent into the abyss in a single day, it would have happened here.
Echoes of ancient civilizations: In recent years, the internet has been ablaze with the discoveries of enthusiasts. Strange ruts in the rocks, reminiscent of Malta's prehistoric roads, and mysterious stone grottoes are found on the islands. And in 2013, sonars detected a gigantic underwater structure on the ocean floor between Terceira and São Miguel, strikingly resembling a pyramid.
Faial Island: The Heart of a Mystical Archipelago
If the Azores are the body of Atlantis, then Faial is its living, beating soul. Our island occupies a special place in the Central Group. Known worldwide as the "Blue Island" for its endless hydrangea hedges, Faial offers a unique immersion into a nature that seems unreal.

It is on Faial that you can feel the power of the planet that created and destroyed ancient worlds:
CALDEIRA FAIAL
A huge volcanic crater, 2 kilometers in diameter, covered in a relict laurel forest. Standing on its edge, with ocean mist slowly drifting in, it's easy to imagine what the gardens of the Atlanteans must have looked like.

KAPELINUS VOLCANO
Europe's youngest volcano, born from the ocean in 1957. Its lunar, lifeless landscape of black ash and basalt vividly demonstrates how easily tectonic forces can reshape the face of the Earth.
